Can we count on your support?

June 1 marked the exciting launch of the Mandel Public Library’s Summer Learning and Reading program—a dynamic, two‑month celebration of discovery, creativity, and academic growth. Made possible through generous grant funding and donor support to the West Palm Beach Library Foundation, this program ensures that children and families across our community have access to safe, enriching, and inspiring learning all summer long.

Throughout June and July, young learners will dive into reading, writing, science, and math in an environment designed to spark curiosity and build confidence. With free lunches and healthy snacks fueling their days, children return to school in August energized, engaged, and ready to thrive.

Summer Learning & Reading 2026 Has Officially Begun!

From the moment the library opens at 9:30 a.m. each weekday,

the building comes alive with imagination and activity.

Children ages eight and older can participate independently, while those seven and under are welcome with an adult.

Wednesdays 2:30 - 4:00 p.m.

Group Tutoring

A cornerstone of the program is our 45‑minute small‑group tutoring sessions led by state‑certified teachers.

  • Kids entering grades 1–5 can strengthen reading and math skills in our third‑floor KidSpace.

  • Teens entering grades 6–12 can build academic momentum at Teen Source on the second floor.

All sessions are first‑come, first‑served, with in‑person registration beginning 30 minutes before each class.

Summer BreakSpot

One of our most impactful services is ensuring children stay nourished all summer. Through our partnership with the School District of Palm Beach County, the Mandel Public Library is proud to serve as a Summer BreakSpot, providing free, nutritious lunches and snacks Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to all kids and teens ages 18 and under. This program is sponsored by the USDA Summer Food Service Program.

We’re also proud to introduce Kindergarten Prep, a joyful new program designed to help incoming kindergarteners build essential early‑learning skills. Through playful, hands‑on activities guided by certified teachers, our youngest learners grow confidence and excitement for their first day of school. Kindergarten Prep is available Sunday afternoons and Monday mornings.

Beyond academics, our library staff offers an inspiring lineup of activities that keep kids enthusiastic and engaged, including art, fitness, science, dance, crafting, technology, music, and more. Highlights include:

Magic: The Gathering Club for ages 7–11, where strategy, creativity, and friendship come together through this popular fantasy card game.

Coloring Club for kids entering grades K–5, offering a relaxing hour of creativity with music and conversation.

Superhero Showdown for grades K–5, where kids can suit up, take on fun physical challenges, and unleash their inner hero.

LEGO Builders for grades K–5, encouraging imagination, problem‑solving, and design in a building environment.
